The Clower-Thornton Nature Area is a remnant patch of southern mixed hardwood forest tucked within the urban setting of Gulfport, Mississippi. It has long been a favorite site for coast birders, with more than 200 species recorded. A variety of common woodland birds can be found here throughout the year, but it is during migration, particularly in the spring, when it is at its best. 20 species of wood warblers have been found here in a single day. Open from dawn to dusk, this site is an excellent migrant trap.
