Hellmer’s Lane is owned and maintained by the Land Trust of the Mississippi Coastal Plain. It consists of a bayhead swamp with associated southern mixed hardwood forest. It is open from dawn until dusk. A variety of common woodland birds can be found here in summer and winter, but it is during migration, particularly in spring, when it is at its best. Tucked into an Ocean Springs neighborhood just in from the coast, it is an excellent migrant trap.
